Story 136

I was discriminated against twice by my former employer on the ground of sex (pregnancy). I am a federal government worker and filed a grievance. I was verbally offered an NDA at level 1 grievance hearing. I said no because I did nothing wrong. My case is now being dragged out at final level. It's been 3 years. Their delays prevent me from other avenues for recourse. If I would have agreed to sign an NDA, I probably would have received a settlement by now.

Discrimination 1: They changed an offer of employment (Acting assignment) after finding out I was pregnant.

Discrimination 2: I returned to work and was pregnant again. They gave me a false reason for targeting my position for elimination and called my upcoming maternity leave disruptive to their operations.

I learned that you cannot criticize management in the federal government. They are above the law. In the end I had to leave to protect my mental health. I now have to come to terms with the fact I will never get resolution because I didn't agree to sign an NDA early on.
