Story 130

My wife started to suffer from Multiple Sclerosis, she was a police officer working at the local level.

The local police force  tried to terminate her employment using disability discrimination, solicitors were acquired and an employment tribunal case was started. I (her husband) collated all the evidence of disability discrimination the police were using in their attempt to dismiss my wife based on such things as she was a danger in the office because she pushed her chair further backwards than others when getting up and also she was a danger in the office because she was using a walking stick.

The local police force also attempted to claim she was afraid of ghosts which was just not true and in fact a younger female who had been made to feel afraid of ghosts as a result 2 other police officers working in the same office pretending they could see ghosts. One of the supervisors made up a story that an officer who had committed suicide was seen in the office, apparently this supervisor was in his spare time a ghost-buster.

Fortunately when the allegations were made that it was my wife who was afraid of ghosts we were able to disprove the allegation because both me and my wife had on a prearranged appointment in relation to my wife's MS with the force Medical Officer were able to tell him what was going on in the office 3 months before the allegations were made against my wife.

There were lots of other instances, I collated all the facts and wrote a critique together with a chronology.

When this was presented to the local police force they made my wife sign a compromise agreement with the promise of a full police pension together with a large sum of money. This is just a very brief outline of what actually happened but for this to happen to a serving police officer from the police force she was working for is shocking.
