I was forced into mediation in a family law case and was required to sign an agreement that included an NDA that was never explained to me. No financial penalty was specified, except the risk of costs to me of re-opening spousal support which I had waived without knowing it was based on false and misleading financial information. The impact on my life and that of my two children has been traumatic and significant. I agreed not to file the agreement with the Family Responsibility Office unless there was a breach because I trusted the parties involved. Having an NDA meant that I was powerless to report to anyone other than a lawyer or financial advisor, including not reporting to FRO unless there was a breach.
