I worked at a county chamber of commerce between 2003-2006. I had to sign the Official Secrets Act and an NDA when I started. The place was a hell hole. It was led by sexual predators. There was a male who was a complete nuisance to women. I was also sexually harassed by two male members of staff and being touched up by one of them. He became sexually obsessed with me and obsessed with my life outside of work. He literally gave me the creeps being in the same office as him. He was basically gossiping and running down people who were on to them. This was so people wouldn't talk about their predatory behaviours and corrupt practices and cover ups. He would always say that people were jealous of them as they were given the top jobs without qualifications or experience. These sexual predators were given power over people. People knew what was going on but would not speak out as they had mortgages/rent to pay. So much went on I cannot simply write it down here, It was a hell hole and surreal. When I finally had enough I said I was going to report all this to the police and media and authorities, The HR manager who was unqualified at the time and admitted he got the job due to favours, bit my head off and said I could not speak out due to what I had signed and called me weak. I wrote a review 6 months ago about the place on a networking site and entitled it 'Chamber of Horrors' and gave a basic outline of my experience there. It was up for a long time and then suddenly removed within the last month. A code of silence was the norm if you saw any wrongdoing and threats- that you cannot speak out- were made. I was told once by one Manager 'I had better be careful’ after I tried to raise issues with the recruitment process and the holding back of applying for jobs. It affected me badly over the years as I used to look back and realised I was working with evil and that it traumatised me so much. The place was operated by both male and female freemasons and it may as well have been set up as a lodge within this government department. It's only in the last 3 years I sought therapy due to actions of those individuals who bullied me constantly.
